When the branding experts at The Moments Market reached out to me to help them execute their vision for a popular hot spot on the Jersey Shore, I jumped at the opportunity! When the owners of Leggetts Sand Bar in Manasquan, NJ wanted to create a fun a vibrant backdrop for the stage area of their patio, they reached out to long time family friend Melissa Clark, branding expert and owner of The Moments Market.
Before
Melissa had a vision, bringing elements of the ocean, sun and music together in a vibrant design to fill an otherwise blank space. The design was set, but without the necessary knowledge of how to properly execute a mural, Melissa turned to me to get her vision up on the wall. The vibrant colors and bold design caught my eye, and the subtle yet clearly recognizable logo in the upper left corner was the cherry on top making this design a perfect fit for the space. The composition was perfect, and I was excited for the opportunity to bring this project to life!

Melissa and I hit it off right away, and it was clear that this would be a fun collaboration. She asked if she could help execute the mural and learn from the process. I welcomed the opportunity to work side by side with Melissa, and I was happy to teach her a bit about muraling! After all, understanding the process of executing a mural would only help her in future designs, and I was excited to be working with another creative on this project!
Working with someone you've never met before can sometimes be a challenge. But as soon as Melissa showed up on the job site at Leggetts, I knew this would work out well. She showed up, eager to learn and demonstrated an excellent work ethic! Muraling can be much more physically demanding than most people realize, but Melissa powered through until the very end. She learned a lot, and when I asked her if she thought she might want to get into muraling in the future she enthusiastically said "I would love to design a mural again....And then I'll call YOU to paint it!"
Now Leggetts Sand Bar has a beautiful mural that will not only serve as a colorful back drop for the musicians who play there, but it is also a perfect selfie spot! A place where patrons will be excited to take a selfie and post it to social media! With a clearly visible logo in the background, and the opportunity for the establishment to be "tagged" on Social, this is free marketing for the business and increases their brand recognition. This is a brilliant marketing strategy for businesses in todays Social Media driven society. A beautiful mural just calls for patrons and passers-by to stop and take a selfie. It's hard to resist!
After
Painting this mural at Leggetts was such a fun experience for so many reasons! The owners and staff are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. They have truly created a family here, not only amongst the staff, but also the patrons. Leggetts is the "Cheers" of the Jersey Shore! If you are a local, you can be sure, everybody knows your name! I am thankful for the experience, and I am proud to now be a part of the Leggetts family.
